Background: The Science Docent Challenge is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Department of Physics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). It aims at sparking students’ interests in astronomy and enhancing their science communication skills. In this contest, the Organisers have selected five exhibits on cosmology in the Hall of the Cosmos at the Hong Kong Space Museum. Contestants are required to introduce at least three of these exhibits in an engaging and lively way to help visitors understand the science behind them. Time: 12:30 pm – 6:00 pm
(On-site briefing: 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm; Final Contest: 1:00 pm – around 5:40 pm)
Location: Lecture Hall and Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum (10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui) No. of volunteers required: 4 persons |
Requirement:
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate in simple Putonghua and English
- Friendly and patient
- Polite with good interpersonal and communication skills
Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 3 April 2025 (Thursday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 11 April 2025 (Friday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
