Background:
The Hong Kong Railway Museum, a branch museum of the Hong Kong Heritage
Museum, is situated in the town centre of Tai Po Market. The Museum was
converted from the Old Tai Po Market Railway Station, which includes the exhibition gallery, old ticket
office and signal cabin. Through the display of artefacts, train models and
historical photos, the development of railways in Hong Kong is introduced. The
outdoor area showcases
a narrow gauge steam locomotive, diesel electric engines Nos. 51 and 60,
historical coaches, etc. for visitors to get in touch with railway relics. In order to let
visitors learn more about the history of Hong Kong railway and exhibits, it is
planned to introduce the fixed-point guided tour service.

Details:
To add the fixed-point
guided tour service next to Diesel Electric Engine No. 51. When visitors
approach, volunteers have to introduce the development of diesel locomotives in
Hong Kong so as to enhance the understanding of the visitors and answer their relevant
enquiries.
Date: 29 March 2025 - 29 June 2025(Every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays )

No. of volunteers required: 2 persons per each service day
Requirement:
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to introduce the tour information in Putonghua and English as well - Able to work outdoor for a prolonged period - Polite and has good interpersonal and communication skills as well as good customer service manner - Careful, patient and helpful - Form 5 or above Briefing: *All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details. Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 6 January 2025 (Monday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 27 January 2025 (Monday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
