(MVS20260815)Hong Kong Museum of Art: Exhibit Assistant for the "Chinese Antiquities Gallery"(Nov - Dec 2026)

Background: The Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA) will be launching an exhibition on bamboo carving in October 2026, in recognition of the donation of over 300 bamboo carvings and related archival materials made this year by Hong Kong collector Dr Kossen Ho. This collection represents the largest donation of bamboo carvings to the museum sector in Hong Kong for the past four decades. Not only does it significantly enrich the Museum’s collection of bamboo art, but the exhibition will also showcase the profound cultural significance and exquisite craftsmanship of bamboo carving. Many of the bamboo carvings in the exhibition are paired with ink rubbings, illustrating an artful dialogue between the two art forms. A dedicated educational corner will allow visitors to participate in creating their own ink rubbings, offering an interactive way to explore this form of art.

Furthermore, the Museum will establish another educational corner in the Chinese Antiquities Gallery, specifically dedicated to introducing selected snuff bottles from the Fuyun Xuan Collection, allowing visitors to explore them in depth with interactive digital displays. A third educational corner will be set up at the escalator lobby on 3/F, illustrating portraits of the beauties as an embodiment of the convergence of Chinese and Western aesthetics in snuff bottles and glass paintings.

To enhance the visitor experience, the Museum would like to recruit volunteers to assist with the operation of the ink rubbing experience corner, as well as the other two snuff bottles related educational corners, guiding visitors to explore the cultural stories behind the exhibits in greater depth.

-        To assist visitors in participating in the bamboo carving rubbing experience

-        To assist visitors in engaging with the digital displays in the snuff bottle educational corner

-        To assist visitors in exploring the snuff bottle and glass painting educational corner

-        To provide customer service to visitors, answer enquiries and assist in crowd control

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 7 Oct 2026 (Wednesday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately.
