Background: The Hong Kong Railway Museum, a branch museum of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, is situated in the town centre of Tai Po Market. The Museum was converted from the Old Tai Po Market Railway Station, which includes the exhibition gallery, old ticket office and signal cabin. Through the display of artefacts, train models and historical photos, the development of railways in Hong Kong is introduced. The outdoor area showcases a narrow gauge steam locomotive, diesel electric engines Nos. 51 and 60, historical coaches, etc. for visitors to get in touch with railway relics. In order to enhance visitors’ understanding of the museum and the development of Hong Kong's railway, it is planned to launch the fixed-point guided tour service.
Details: To provide fixed-point guided tour service next to the Diesel Electric Engine No. 51, narrow gauge steam locomotive or inside the old Tai Po Market Railway Station. Volunteers will introduce the history of Hong Kong’s railway development and related exhibits to enhance visitors’ understanding and assist in answering visitors’ questions.

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 3 March 2026 (Tuesday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 11 March 2026 (Wednesday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
