Background: Caring for our cultural heritage is not only the main duty of museums, but also a profound responsibility that requires expertise, collaboration, and a deep respect for the irreplaceable treasures among all of us.

Details:

Conservation 101 workshop provides an opportunity for museum volunteers to interact with our curator, and to better understand the work of Conservation Office and our shared responsibility on caring cultural treasures when providing services.  Curator will also introduce basic conservation knowledge through demonstration.

Volunteers will get a better understanding on how Conservation Office preserves the legacies for generations to come by upholding the highest standards and best practices.

* Training workshop will be conducted in Cantonese with bilingual presentation slides.

Date: 6 Dec 2024 (Friday) 

Time: 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Location:Lecture Hall, 1/F, Hong Kong Museum of History

(100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong; next to the Hong Kong Science Museum)

No. of volunteers (Max. Capacity): 140 volunteers

Requirement:

-         Interested in heritage conservation

-         Intended to participate in conservation service, or front line volunteer services

Speaker/ Organisation: Curator, Conservation Office   ​

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday).

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 4 November 2024 (Monday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
