Background: To ensure volunteers are well-prepared for the upcoming services, we are offering a series of induction training. Each training will cover the overview of a specific museum / office (history, mission, future development, activities, volunteer service opportunities etc.), as well as an interesting sharing on the curatorial concept and stories behind key exhibition(s).

The Hong Kong Space Museum (SpM) houses two exhibition halls, namely the "Hall of the Cosmos" and the "Hall of Space Exploration". These halls showcase approximately a hundred exhibits with the goal of presenting astronomy and space science in an engaging way. The Museum invites volunteers to provide fixed-point docent services, and to assist visitors in operating the interactive exhibits. SpM also runs various activities with an aim to enhance the knowledge of astronomy. The Museum invites volunteers to assist in and support event management. The training programme enables volunteers and assistant curators to exchange ideas, allowing the volunteers to understand the exhibitions, events, and volunteer services of the Museum. Volunteers can enjoy the night sky with astronomical telescopes at the rooftop. Assistant curators from the SpM will also introduce the special exhibition, demonstrate and explain the operation of exhibits, provide points to note of the museum services. *Training workshop will be conducted in Cantonese, supplemented by bilingual presentation slides in Chinese and English. **Volunteers who have attended this training will be given priority in participating for the service "Hong Kong Space Museum: Exhibit Assistant". |

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 28 October 2024 (Monday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
