Background: The Conservation Office provides conservation support for the management of the LCSD museum collections. To facilitate the administration over 200 works of art on paper, condition inspection and documentation are required.


Details:

-         To assist in unpacking and taking measurements of artworks under the guidance of a conservator; and,

-         To take photo records of the current conditions of the artwork and subsequent re-housing

Date: 

16, 17, 23, 24 September 2025 (4 days) 

Time: 

10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Lunch hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.)

Location: Conservation laboratory, 4/F Hong Kong Museum of Art

(10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui)

No. of volunteers required: 2 persons (Each volunteer is required to attend all 4 days)

Requirement:       

-         Fluent in spoken Cantonese

-         Capable of operating the basic functions of a digital camera

-         Patient and able to handle artwork with care

-         Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills

-         Priority will be given for those who have previously volunteered for conservation activities or have experience in handling artwork (the organiser may request to verify the asserted experience)

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 4 August 2025 (Monday)

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 22 August 2025 (Friday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
