Background: This service is a pilot scheme to provide fixed-point guided tour to promote the history of the War of Resistance and the story of Hong Kong’s coastal defence so as to enrich the museum visiting experience.
Details: Volunteers will be assigned to provide fixed-point guided tour on highlight exhibits in the designated areas of "The Story of Hong Kong Coastal Defence" Permanent Exhibition and the War of Resistance Galleries to promote the museum and enhance the visiting experience.
Date: 19 July – 30 September 2025 (Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays)
Time: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30p.m.
Location: Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence (175 Tung Hei Road, Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong) No. of volunteers required: A maximum of 4 persons per session |
Requirement:
- Basic knowledge of Chinese history and culture
- Good presentation, communication and customer service skills
- Holder of post-secondary qualifications or above
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate with visitors in simple Putonghua and English preferred
- Priority to those with previous experience in conducting museum guided tours and/ or providing fixed-point guided tour service in MWRCD
1. Briefing
All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details.
Date: 3 July 2025 (Thursday)
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence
Details: The curator will brief on the programme outline and key points, provide information of the highlight exhibits and basic docent skills.
2. Enrollment: Please submit the completed online enrollment form by 12:00 nn on 30 May 2025 (Friday). Any late submission will not be considered.
3. Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 18 June 2025 (Wednesday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately.
