Background:  To cultivate the interest in astronomy and space science among the youth generation in Hong Kong as well as enhance their understanding of the endeavours in space technology of China, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce jointly present the "Young Astronaut Training Camp 2025". Thirty selected students will experience astronaut training activities and learn about space science and technology in the Mainland during the summer holidays. Details:

-         Assist the staff of the Space Museum in leading and taking care of the students, and handle various tasks during the Camp

-         Serve as group leaders, ensure that students maintain discipline, and take photos of students’ activities for records

-         Assist in assessing students’ performance during the Camp

-         Attend related activities of the Camp, including Pre-camp Briefing, Send-off Ceremony and its rehearsal, and Sharing Session to provide logistic support

Location: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum

Young Astronaut Training Camp

Date: 25 July – 2 August 2025 (nine days and eight nights)

Location: Beijing, Jiuquan and Xi’an

Sharing Session

Date: 26 August 2025 (Tuesday) PM

Location: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum

No. of volunteers required: 2-3 persons

Requirement:   

Basic requirements

1.      In good health and physical fitness, and capable of providing tour services for long hours over 9 consecutive days.

Preferred requirements

1.      Majored in physics, astronomy or space science, or participated in related societies or organisations

2.      With experience in teaching or organising academic or cultural exchange activities

3.      Provided MVS services to the Hong Kong Space Museum before

4.      Good at Putonghua

Interview (in June)

-         The Hong Kong Space Museum will invite better qualified applicants to attend an interview to verify and assess the following aspects:

1.      Preferred requirements (documentary proof might be required)

2.      Manner, interpersonal and communication skills

3.      Experience in leading and managing group activities for teenagers

4.      Understanding of the service requirements of the Camp 

Briefing

*All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details.

Date: 12 July 2025 (Saturday)

Time: AM (to be confirmed)

Location: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum

Details: The pre-camp briefing will introduce the itinerary, activity content, arrangements and regulations of the Camp in detail. Rehearsal of the Send-off Ceremony will be conducted, and volunteers will also meet the students.

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 30 May 2025 (Friday)

Notes: Interview will be conducted in June and details will be sent to selected applicants. The successful applicants will be notified of the interview result by e-mail on or before 4 July 2025 (Friday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
