Background:
As part of the Oi! Spotlight programme in 2025, Oi! features the work of Toyofuku Ryo, a celebrated Japanese artist with rich experiences in participating in international art festivals, such as Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale and Setouchi Triennale. Drawing inspirations from Hong Kong and Japanese cultural elements, the artist created two large-scale installations, Golden Tearoom and Golden Playroom that transform the Oi! Glassie galleries into imaginative environments.
The Golden Tearoom installation echoes the aesthetic of a traditional Japanese tearoom and garden. Visitors can step inside the golden tearoom and experience a meditative moment, imagining themselves on a floating island amidst the bustling city. The Golden Playroom installation combines local and Japanese cultural elements, including various interactive games for visitors to engage with inside the gallery space. This work aims to foster connections and exchange through playful and participatory experiences.

Date: 10 July – 17 August 2025 (Every Thursday - Sunday and Public Holidays)
Time: 9:45 am – 1:45 pm; and 2:45pm – 6:45 pm
(Two
sessions each day, with each session lasting 4 hours; please choose to
serve in both the morning and afternoon sessions, or only in the one session.)

Requirement:

- Fluent in spoken Cantonese, proficiency in Mandarin and English is a plus - Polite and has good interpersonal and communication skills as well as good customer service manner - Completed Secondary 5 education level or above - Priority will be given for those who have experience in art and/or education -
Experience in serving as Volunteer for "Oi!Spotlight: The Golden Realm by Toyofuku Ryo" at Oi! is preferred Briefing All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details. Date: 7 July 2025 (Monday) Time: 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. Location: Oil Street Art Space (Oi!), 12 Oil Street, North Point, Hong Kong Details: Curatorial staff from Oi! will introduce the curatorial concept, background of the artist, and installation artworks of the "Oi! Spotlight: The Golden Realm by Toyofuku Ryo" exhibition. Guidelines on the daily operation of the exhibition will also be explained. |
Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 30 May 2025 (Friday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 25 June 2025 (Wednesday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
