Background: Routine monitoring programmes are implemented in museum collection stores to avoid pest infestation. Conservators assess risk of pest infestation and recommend essential preventive measures with the types and amount of insects being trapped in adhesive traps.
Conservation Office would like to invite volunteers to provide assistance in pest monitoring and preservation.
Details:
- Assist in observation and identification of insects sticked on monitoring glue traps through digital microscope
- Assist in recording keeping and classification of microscopic photos

Experience in material
preparation for pest management and relative humidity control
Date: 29 May 2025 (Thursday) and 26 June 2025 (Thursday)(Dates to be confirmed later)
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Location: Conservation laboratory at the Hong Kong Museum of History (2/F, 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui) No. of volunteers required: Max 10 volunteers per session |
Requirement:
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate
- Meticulous, careful and patient
- Without Amblyopia and colour blindness

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 3 April 2025 (Monday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 9 May 2025 (Friday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
