Background: This exhibition will enable you to experience the challenges and evolution that life has gone through since the Ediacaran period 635 million years ago. Precious fossils of different periods including stromatolites, Cooksonia barrandei and Deinonychus are displayed in the exhibition. In addition, there are also lifelike robotic dinosaurs and interesting interactive exhibits that focus on fossil excavation, prehistoric environments and the evolution of life to allow the audience to immerse yourself in the world of palaeontology and experience how fun it is.

- To briefly introduce the exhibits to visitors (Land Buster, The Jaws and interactive exhibits)

To conduct questionnaire survey for the exhibition
Date: 21 December 2024 to 28 February 2025 (except 2, 9, 16, 23, 29, 30 January and 6, 13, 20, 27 February 2025)
Time: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Palaeontology Gallery, G/F, Hong Kong Science Museum (2 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East) No. of volunteers required: 2 persons per session (Each volunteer is required to attend at least 2 sessions of service) |
Requirement:
- Fluent in Cantonese and able to communicate in simple Putonghua and English preferred
- Polite with good communication skills and customer service manner
- Form 5 or above
- Priority will be given to those who have qualifications or experience in science or education
Briefing
*All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details. The briefing session will be held during the MVS Induction Training Programme.
Date: 14 December 2024 (Saturday)
Time: 7:15 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (including briefing and visit)
Location: Lecture Hall and Palaeontology Gallery of Hong Kong Science Museum Details: Assistant Curators of the Science Museum will give an introduction to exhibition background, service content and related techniques. Priority will be given to volunteers who have performed the related service of “Extinction.Resilience” Exhibition previously. |
Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 18 November 2024 (Monday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 2 December 2024 (Monday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
