Background: What we often know about conservators is the fancy facet of their work - conducting complicated treatments on museum artefacts. However, have you ever thought of the other facet of them playing the role as guardians of museum artefacts, conserving objects through preventive measures?

In Muse Fest 2024, Conservation Office will invite a specialist from Collection Management and Conservation Unit of Shenzhen Museum to give a special lecture on "Preventive Conservation in Museum" in Hong Kong.  Through this lecture, the focus on preventive conservation work of Shenzhen Museum will be brought into the spotlight. The complexity of managing the preservation needs of different types of artefacts, as well as the challenges that come with this task will also be covered.

-         To assist in crowd management during and after the event

-         To take photo record of the activity

Date: 16 November 2024(Saturday)

Time: 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Location: Hong Kong Museum of Art( 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon

Hong Kong)

No. of volunteers required: 6 volunteers

Requirement:

-         Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate with visitors in simple Putonghua and English preferred

-         Polite and has good interpersonal and communication skills as well as good customer service manner

-         Form 5 or above

Briefing

* Briefing of service will be conducted on site.

Location: Hong Kong Museum of Art (10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong)

Details: Staff from the Conservation Office will introduce the background of the activity. The workflow of the lecture will be introduced briefly. The assistance required for registration, Q&A session, photo-taking and crowd management will also be explained.

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday).

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 28 October 2024 (Monday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
