Background: Since its establishment in 2010, the “Stargaze Camp for All and the Blind” has been successfully held on 13 occasions. This large outdoor event is jointly organised by a committee consisted of volunteers from various business organisations, non-profit-making organisations, schools and government departments in Hong Kong, with the Hong Kong Space Museum as one of the supporting organisations.
Through specially designed stargazing tools, people with disabilities can also learn about astronomical phenomena. Initially aimed at encouraging visually impaired people to engage in stargazing and promoting integration into society, this event has now attracted participants from diverse backgrounds and become a platform to promote social inclusion and integration.

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.(Including break time and meal break)
Location: Gathering and dismissal locations: Hong Kong Space Museum (10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui) Camp location: Yuen Tun Camp, Tsing Lung Tau, Tsuen Wan No. of volunteers required: 15 persons |
Requirement:
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate with participants in simple Putonghua and English preferred - Able to work outdoor for a prolonged period - Polite with good interpersonal skills, communication skills and customer service manner - Form 5 or above - Priority will be given to those who have experience in astronomy education Briefing: *All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details. Date: 29 October 2024 (Tuesday) Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday). Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota,
the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful
applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 21 October
2024 (Monday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be
notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to
the Secretariat’s announcements as final. |
