Background: The Sun has been active throughout 2024. In this observation programme, the assistant curators of the Space Museum will guide you to observe sunspots up close through solar telescope. They will also introduce safe methods for solar observation. Solar viewer will be distributed on-site.

Date: 3 November 2024 (Sunday)
Time: 12:00 n.n. - 3:00 p.m. (Including 30 minutes briefing time and 30 minutes clean up time; activity time: 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. )
Location: Salisbury Garden, Tsim Sha Tsui
No. of volunteers required: 5 persons
Requirement:
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate with visitors in simple Putonghua and English preferred
- Polite and has good interpersonal and communication skills as well as good customer service manner
- Form 5 or above
- Priority will be given for whom have experience in astronomy education; or providing services in Hong Kong Space Museum or Hong Kong Science Museum
- Required to attend the briefing and preparation session to familarise with the service details
Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 21 October 2024 (Monday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
