Background: Conservation Office will participate in Muse Fest 2024 - Opening Fiesta and organise a booth activity to introduce conservation treatment trick and promote Chinese culture.

Wax is widely used in artefacts conservation, our conservators will personally introduce the application of this material on the conservation of different artefacts. Participants will not only get a chance to apply different types of wax for artefacts protection, but also make their own light clay cake mould magnets to understand the traditional Chinese food’s history and culture embodied in the wooden cake moulds.

Details:

-         To assist in booth operation, demonstration and hands-on activities

-         To introduce basic Chinese culture embodied in the wooden cake moulds

-         To take photo record of the activity

Date:  2 November 2024 (Saturday) & 3 November 2024 (Sunday)

Time: Session 1: 10:00 - 14:00   

Session 2: 14:00 - 18:00 

Location: Hong Kong Cultural Creative Market (10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong)

No. of volunteers required: 4 persons per session 

Requirement:

-         Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate with visitors in simple Putonghua and English preferred

-         Able to work outdoor for a prolonged period

-         Polite and has good interpersonal and communication skills as well as good customer service manner

-         Form 5 or above

Briefing

*All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details.

Date: 30 October 2024 (Wednesday)

Time: 10:00 – 12:00

Location: Hong Kong Museum of Art (10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong)

Details: Staff from the Conservation Office will introduce the background of the activity and share past experiences about the service. The Chinese culture embodied in the wooden cake moulds and conservation knowledge will be introduced briefly and the workflow, tools and materials involved in the booth activities will also be explained.

*The briefing will be conducted in Cantonese. 

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday).

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 21 October 2024 (Monday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
