[Testing](MVS20261004)Science Promotion Unit: Little Museum KOL x QK POST Roadshow - Party Science Trivia and “Sau Tao” Candle DIY Workshop (Name TBC)

Background: Join us in celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Hong Kong Science Museum with a scientific exploration of birthday festivities! The programme features a travelling exhibition showing how party elements, such as cakes and candles, share common scientific principles with Intangible Cultural Heritage items linked to birthday customs. Participants can also make their own candle in the shape of a sau tao (longevity peach), which symbolises long life and good fortune, while learning about candle structure and the science of combustion.

Details:

-        To invite the public to visit the exhibition and participate in the workshop, as well as respond to related enquiries

-        To assist with venue setup and cleanup, distribute queue tickets and maintain order

-         To prepare and distribute workshop materials, and assist participants in making the candles

-         To capture photos of the exhibition and workshop

Date: 

-         31 October 2026 (Saturday)

-         1 November 2026 (Sunday)  

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 18:30 p.m. (including briefing session)

**Staff will arrange the lunch time base on the on-site situation

Location: 

Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza (10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui)

No. of volunteers required: 4 persons per session

Requirement:    

-         Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate in simple Putonghua and English preferred

-         Polite and has good communication skills, as well as a good customer service manner

-         Form 5 or above

-         Able to work outdoors for a prolonged period

-         Priority will be given to volunteers who have experience in science education or have previously provided volunteer services to the Science Museum

**The briefing will be conducted in Cantonese.

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 16 October 2026 (Friday).

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 21 October 2026 (Wednesday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
