Background:
The Hong Kong Space
Museum features the largest solar telescope in Hong Kong. We have presented an
exhibit titled “Solar Telescope” in the Hall of the Cosmos, where visitors can
view the stunning images of the Sun captured by this telescope.
During this programme,
participants will observe the Sun safely using various methods on the Museum’s
rooftop. They will also take part in a guided tour of the “Solar Telescope”
exhibit.
The Museum invites volunteers to lead the guided
tours for the "Solar Telescope" exhibit and introduce the science
behind it.
Details:
There will be 6 sessions of guided tour. Each session is 20 minutes and accommodates up to 15 participants per session. Volunteers will rotate as guides for these tours. The content of the guided tour includes: - an introduction to the solar telescope on the rooftop of the Museum, - an overview of the "Solar Telescope" exhibit in the Hall of the Cosmos, as well as - an explanation of the science behind the exhibit. |

Requirement:
- Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to communicate with visitors in simple Putonghua and English
- Polite and possesses good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good customer service manner
- Form 5 or above (persons who have studied science subjects are preferable)
- Volunteers who have attended the “MVS ── Induction Training Programme: Hong Kong Space Museum” on 12 November 2024 or the briefing session of “Hong Kong Space Museum: Exhibit Assistant” on 4 March 2025 will be given priority in participating in this service.
- Reference notes will be sent to successful applicants via email. Volunteers should study the notes prior to the service day.
- All volunteers must attend the briefing session on 10 April 2026.

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 3 March 2026 (Tuesday).
Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 18 March 2026 (Wednesday). The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately.
