Background: The Hong Kong Science Museum features over 500 exhibits or interactives in permanent and special exhibitions, allowing the public to understand scientific knowledge through hands-on experiences.

To ensure the smooth operation of the exhibition and enhance the customised experience, the Science Museum is now inviting Museum Volunteers to assist in introducing the exhibits and helping with the operation, sharing the scientific principles behind the exhibit highlights. 


Details:

-         To operate the exhibit highlights

-         To guide and assist visitors in operating interactive exhibits

-         To briefly introduce the exhibit/exhibition contents to visitors

Date: 1 April to 30 June 2026 (except non-PH Thursdays)


Time:  

1st session: 9:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.  (3.5 hours)

2nd session: 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  (3.5 hours)

(Select one session or both sessions per day)


Location: 

Selective exhibits from HKScM

(1)  Interactive exhibit from new permanent exhibitions (Living Tech Gallery, InnoTech Gallery, AI Gallery)

(2)  “Water-to-Land Transition” from G/F Palaeontology Gallery

(3)  “Square Wheel” from G/F Maths Hall

(4)  “Build Your Own Roller Coaster” from 3/F Children’s Gallery

(5)  “Ball Machine” from 3/F Children’s Gallery

(6)  Selective exhibit from special exhibition (Exhibits rotate with the theme) *

(2 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon)

No. of volunteers required: 5-6 persons per session
*Each volunteer is welcome to attend at least 3 sessions of service, with mandatory breaks between shifts


Requirement:    

-         Fluent in Cantonese and able to communicate in simple Putonghua and English preferred

-         Polite with good interpersonal and communication skills and customer service manner

-         Form 5 or above

-         Priority will be given to those who have qualifications or experience in science or education

Briefing:

*All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details.

Date: 

Session 1: 28 March 2026 (Saturday)

Session 2: 24 April 2026 (Friday) *Remarks: Briefing for latest special exhibition

Time: Sessions 1 and 2: 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location: 

Various exhibition galleries at the Hong Kong Science Museum

Gathering point: G/F Classroom, Hong Kong Science Museum


Details: (Briefing conducted in Cantonese) An introduction to exhibition background, service content and related techniques.


Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 3 March 2026 (Tuesday).


Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 18 March 2026 (Wednesday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
