Background: The Hong Kong Science Museum features over 500 exhibits or interactives in permanent and special exhibitions, allowing the public to understand scientific knowledge through hands-on experience. To enhance the customised experience and foster a deeper understanding of the exhibits and the science behind them, the Science Museum is now inviting Museum Volunteers to assist in conducting Fixed Point Guided Tour.

Details:

-         To briefly introduce the exhibit/exhibition contents to visitors in the following galleries: Palaeontology Gallery (PG), Earth Science Gallery (ESG), Biodiversity Gallery (BDG)* and Jockey Club Environmental Conservation Gallery (ECG)* (*newly added gallery)

-         To provide customer service and assist in crowd control

Date: 5 March to 25 June 2025 (Every Wednesday)

Time: 11:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Location: Exhibition Halls of Hong Kong Science Museum

 (2 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon)

No. of volunteers required: 4 persons per session

  *Each volunteer is recommended to attend at least 3 sessions of service

Requirement: 

-         Fluent in Cantonese and able to communicate in simple Putonghua and English preferred

-         Polite with good interpersonal and communication skills and customer service manner

-         Form 5 or above (Priority will be given to those who have qualifications or experience in science)

-         Priority will be given to those who have attended the services of “Welcome Cart” and “Fixed Point Guided Tour”  

Briefing:

*All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details.

Date: 26 February 2025 (Wednesday)

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. : Introducing PG & ESG

11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. : Introducing BDG & ECG*

*If applicants have previously registered for the “Fixed Point Guided Tour”, they only need to attend the briefing session at 11:30 a.m.

Location: G/F Classroom, Hong Kong Science Museum

Details: (Briefing conducted in Cantonese) An introduction to highlight exhibits, service content and related techniques.

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 12:00 nn on 27 January 2025 (Monday).

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 20 February 2025 (Thursday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
